Today, our daughter Lisa, as host and guide, drove us through a a downpour to Winchester, where miraculously, the rain abated, and although cool and overcast, provided us with acceptable climate to enjoy a walk through this wonderful English town, a former Capitol of England.
On our walk, we were treated to views of an ancient moat, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the home of Jane Austin, and Winchester Cathedral (remember the popular song in the '60's). We lunched at the Union Jack, A Jamie Oliver restaurant (Google for menu) which was excellent, and then to get my 'Pub of the Day' we were directed to the Black Boy (again, Google it), with decor from earlier times.
